The DCRRC 15K Championship race was held at Belle Haven Park, Alexandria on a beautiful Saturday morning the day before Easter. Forty seven runners, 26 of them non-members came to contest for the 3 deep, 10-year age group medals. The results show that the large majority were between 30 and 60 years of age. After a rainy week, the weather cooperated beautifully with sunshine and temperatures in the 50's. The leaders at the finish had to discuss who would cross the line first but since they were in different age groups they both won gold. Race director Rolland Elliott would like to thank those who were willing and able to respond to requests for volunteers. First timer Karen Barefield handled registration and finish cards, Dawn &Jim Barrett ran the water station, Erin Eckert assisted with registration, a road crossing &awards, Gene Fox ran the timer, Dave Shenkenberg timed the turnaround, and James Moreland was pressed into scoring. All helped with the setup and cleanup. Thanks to Ed Grant for brining the equipment and James Scarborough for help with setup.
