Dave Lewis and Mary J. O'Connell toed the line with their laces double knotted and 
CoolMax ready to wick.  They received a tip that the overall team winners would walk 
away with a "family-sized" jug of pretzels.  Unofficial reports indicated they were 
heard at the starting line mumbling, "it's snack time."

The women's event was clinched by Nikeya Green of Alexandria, followed closely by 
Clara Poffenberger.  Nikeya received a variety pack of Harvest Bars for her 
exceptional performance.

In the men's race, it was the final kick that counted.  For the last few turns, 
Vincent McDonald of Arlington was locked shoulder-to-shoulder with Ted Poulos 
of McLean.  Ted's strong finishing kick propelled him the last hundred meters
for the win, with Vincent trailing just two seconds behind.
